With this new one, 2006 PSD autohubs, electric switch 4x4, it is somewhat noiser when engaged then my previous 1/2 ton trucks. What is normal? I can here the axle spinning as a whirring noise and also a whiring on acceleration and deacceleration. Most of my 1/2 tons were extremely quiet. It is not real loud but noticeable.

Make sure you have enough gear oil in the front diff and Xfer case. There have been incidents where manufacturers shipped units with little or no oil in the gear boxes. Other that that.. Dunno. I have an 03. Nothing as fancy as the 06. ;)

I have had the same thing happen to me, but I was not in 4WD. I was trying to get up on a curb and when I accelerated and then decelerated, it sounded like something was free-wheeling under the truck. Some kind of whinning noise. And no, it wasn't the tires. Does it have something to do with the limited-slip? Who knows?
