Ok so here's the story. I had a 2000 7.3L (LOVED IT!) we had a freak ice strom about 2 months ago and I had a car jump the median on a freeway and come into my lane. Needless to say I avoided the car, but ended up rolling it down a hill about 8 times then she burned up.

Anyway I bought a 2005 6.0L and I've noticed two main differences.

1. The truck will surge in "Drive" and/or "Reverse" it's almost like someone is pressing the throttle while I've got the break applied. This never happed with my good old 7.3L.

2. My 6.0L does not have any guts out of the hole. I step on the throttle and can count of two seconds before the truck even desides to move. I was told that it may be "Turbo Lag". But my 7.3L had a turbo and I could light up the tires at will. What gives? How come an engin with more horsepower can't even break the tires loose?

So any insight ono these two problems I would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys!:)

Thats just how they are stock. Mine does the same thing. You need to do a few mods to get rid of the lag. Good luck

i wouldnt pay attn. to sawed off...sounds like a chebby driver.

on the 6.0l the 1st thing you need to check for are codes...and
your average pepboys code reader wont read all the codes (cant even
see 'em to display 'em to you).

2nd the surging is NOT normal...im completely stock (cept for a turbo
back mbrp exhaust)...ive got 53k+ on mine and its NEVER surged.

I agree with bush on this. The only time I have had a surge was when the EBP (Exhaust Back Pressure sensor) was bad and Ford replaced it. No surge afterwards.

Welcome to the SDD!!:sweet

Go to Ford or someone with a good scan tool and find out what is wrong. Sounds like a bad sensor like daveben and bushpilot said.

I've read before on this forum that mashing the go pedal quickly will not give you a quick jump out of the hole. If you take about a second or to to get the pedal to the floor it will respond better. Think it might be a PCM response. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's what I remember reading. I wouldn't know because I haven't floored mine yet. I'm going for the "drive it for 15 years" plan. I don't want to buy one of the new diesels as long as I can hold out. That's why I don't have a programmer yet.

I was saying the same thing as bling821. What I ment to say is if I punch it from the stop, it will lag a little bit before going. If I take and give it a little rpm then get on it then it will respond better.
