hey everybody, new to the forum and to superdutys. When I leave from a dead stop going straight or turning left there is a metal on metal clicking noise coming from somewhere in the rear. the noise only happens sometimes but never when im going right. And before you ask I'm noto leaving hard, i try to baby my truck as much as possible, don't want to break till i can afford to upgrade it.

couple things it could be..
excessive slop in the differential
u-joint going bad
rust built up on the slip yoke
a dry slip yoke

could even be in the suspension

welcome to the forum!

sounds like you have a bad u-joint somewhere, although the left right thing has me stumped, a bad driveshaft ujoint should make noise all the time when its bad, regardless of steering.

there is also a small tottington bearing in the hub unit bearin g assembly the axle shaft rides on. whne they go out they click and can cause some binding so the axle shaft will rotate even when the hub in not locked in.

the bearing is a b2110 and runs 7 bucks if you would have to replace it... in the hub there is no way to grease it so it is common it will dry up and seize and take the stub shaft with it..
