Not all OBS had cats. For exhaust go with a upgrated down pipe(mandrel bent) then sraight pipe, if your not towing alot. You will get some turbo whistle (not as much as a 6.0 but some)

I did a new DP and muffler delete on a buddies truck for him and just doing that made a huge difference. Before I did the mods you could never hear the turbo. After the mod the turbo spooled up so easy and the sound was awsome. Just when you are cutting the DP off cut the cobra head and then at the bottom it should just fall out the bottom.

Block Heater

I was told that a relay that should be replaced along with new glo-plugs should of been replaced.
I found it online. a glo plug controller relay.... Also I should look into installing a block heater.... That I seached and did not find.

Q: can a block heater work off of my batteries.... or does it only get plugged in.......110v?

Cold weather starts.... Additives ? used by anybody?

Should a diesel engine sit and warm up for a long period ?

15F - 20F Degree weather

If i dont plug my truck in the night before i usually let it run for a while in the winter, but if i do a few minutes later im off, just use blended diesel, a thinner oil and make sure you have the correct blend for your coolant and you should be fine, the block heaters can be hidden sometimes my dads 02 PSD had one but came from the factory with it we couldnt find it until we went to install the new one and realized there was on already, alot of guys tuck away the 110 cord to prevent damage, im not sure of a Glow Plug that runs on your batteries, any heating Element would draw alot of amps, and starts in cold weather draw it down to so id be afraid of killing my batteries, however these are just my opinions i could be wrong

Block heaters plug into 110 v ac. I plug mine in when it gets below freezing, just to make it easier on the truck. I have started it down to 10* F, it started, but didn't sound too happy about it. You can put a heater on a timer so it comes on about 2-3 hours before starting,(get a heavy enough timer). The heaters draw around 10 amps. Don't worry about thinning the fuel for winter, Most stations go to a winter blend of fuel before temps drop below freezing. It's not good to let a diesel idle long in the winter. The engines don't produce enough heat to do much good at low rpms. Start it, idle it for a few moments, then drive off slow for the first few miles to let all of the fluids warm a bit.
