HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP! Just got my truck back from new turbo #3, all I can say is WOW! I also had 3 recalls done, and man does this thing run good! They installed the new, updated turbo, reflashed my PCM, and did the recalls. This thing has unbelievable whistle, and turbo lag is 110% gone! If anyone has a turbo going bad, get your dealer to install this new design, you'll love it!

Any specifics on the model #/part # of the new turbo? Any specifics on recalls performed or flashes done?

New Turbo ?

Yea, give us the skinny on the new turbo. How did you realize it was going bad?

2004 6.0 Harley Edition 4x4, w/ Diablo sport chip, 6.5" lift on 37" Terra Grapplers.

I don't have any part numbers yet, my dealer gives you your truck when it's done, then mails you the paperwork. I know the reflash was for recall# 05E15 and 05E16. I also had a recall #05B32, which obviously didn't help the way it runs, as it's just a new sticker on the degas bottle. This thing has more whistle than I've ever heard before!:thumbs Sorry I can't be more help right now. As soon as I get my paperwork in the mail, I'll post all the info for you guys.

I knew it was going bad mostly from experience, this is my third, and hopefully last new turbo. But mostly I knew it was going bad because it was boosting 30-35 lbs of boost, going by the factory gauge, and it literally wouldn't get out of it's own way. Also when you let off the go pedal, it would let out the mother of all turbo farts! I will post all the part #'s as soon as I get them.

Mine doesn't whistle. It sounds like it's grinding coffee beans. Literally. I've owned a car with a turbo before and it NEVER sounded like this. Two Ford dealerships tell me the sound is normal. Sorry, I'm not buying it. I'm thinking the turbo bearings must have a excess amount of play for it to be making the racket it makes when it spools down. It sounds like the vanes are actually making contact with the sides of the turbo assembly.

Rayray, something sounds extremely wrong there.

Mine sounds like an 18-wheeler a.k.a. whistle.
