i like your moto big joe, but i did fill it up twice and i havent let it get below half a tank since then. there was no improvement. i also drove it 6 hours across ohio and back in 2 days, so it was definetly good and warmed up. no improvment, but i can say it runs strong above 2000 rpm where its noticebly smoother.

should i check the hpop and how do i do that?

Stay'n with the "Start Cheap" thing ?

You may be getting air in the fuel from the inlet fitting on the fuel pump. You can replace that fitting with a piece of >diesel friendly< fuel hose and two band clamps for about $15.00.

At this point, It's not the HPOP oil pressure. It's the Un-equal psi caused by the oil rails being of a dead-end design. You can fix that by installing a High Pressure Oil Cross Over Line... or whats commonly called: the HPX over Mod. About $75.00.

If yer not familure with these two fixes allready ?..you can do a search here on SDD to check'm out

you say you think you have a flip chip on it? have you checked that out yet?

look at the wiki page for instructions and pictures.
TikiWiki : Selectable/flip chip install

the chip might even be gone and they left the switch behind.

i would suggest pulling the chip off the pcm for a few days and see how it runs. while its off, then you can track down who's chip and what programs are on it.

It has a position for "stock tune". The vibrations calm down a little bit in "stock", but the power levels suck.

i checked into that kit and found one for $45, not bad. does anyone check the pressures before getting one of those? I'd like to, but i dont even know what kind of pressures to expect.

some of our site sponsors carry hpop pressure guages, the pressure is in the thousands so you really dont want to rig something, a leak could shoot right through your flesh (gross!)

I'd suggest trying some injector tests like the buzz & contribution tests. I don't know how much a dealer will try to take you for that. But I read recently that a dealer wanted like $80+ just to recal the speedometer for larger tires.

Now if you know someone with an analyzer like an Autoenginuity, they can run the tests for you. Those tests will help indicate bad or weak injectors, bad injector harnesses or may even indicate a cylinder with weak compression.

Unfortunetly, I don't know anyone with anything more than one of those cheap code readers and all I have is a X-cal 2 for mustangs.

Anyone in the cleveland akron area with a good scanner want to make a new buddy?

I paid to get the buzz and injector contribution tests done. the buzz test came back ok, but cyl #1 isnt contributing. I'm going to swap that injector and see what happens.

i swapped out inj #1 and that seemed to do it. Runs great now and my mpg went up big time. And, what i thought was a clutch problem turned out to be related to the surging motor. 2 problems down and lovin it.
