Less backspacing would move the tire out and possibly make it rub on the fender worse due to the outer edge of the tire swinging farther. More backspacing might reduce the fender rub but may cause the tire to rub on the spring. I don't know what the factory backspacing is on the 99' stock wheels but you would probably need to try several different ones to see if it would fix the rub.

I'm not sure if it will work for you but in the past I have made brackets and/or used ty-wraps to hold the inner fender a little bit further back and out the way.

Off the main subject

Does anyone know the max tire size that will fit under a 2004 F350 with a 2.5" leveling kit? I'm tring to buy tires ( BF Goodrich KM2 31575R16) and I want to make sure they will fit before I spend the money.

The 315's fit my truck with 2" lift in the front, but with the factory wheels the tires rub the springs. Factory wheels have a +10 offset for trucks up to 04, and +40 (tire sits farther in) for 05 and newer trucks. The perfect set up is to run a 16X9 wheel with a -5 offset(for early trucks), but good luck trying to find anything in that size and offset. I got sick of dealing with it after 3 months of trying to get the right combo so I'm selling my 315's and going up to a 35-12.50-18 so I can get into a better selection of wheels. 16's are just out of date and aftermarket wheels are going away fast, the first 7 styles of wheels I looked at getting have been discontinued as of January. My advise is if you can aford it, get 17's or bigger so you can at least get the wheels you want with right offset. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

I found some 18"x10 offset 4.25 I think. That I'm going to get that will work fine, there coming off the same year truck as mine and they have new 35" tires on them now. Some guy got them and did not like the size and wanted more rim like 22's. So I'm getting them for dirt with the tires. :sweet

the 4.25 is most likley the back spaceing which would put the offset at -25 or -32 I'm guessing. They should work fine if your going with a 4" lift kit, but they will stick out a little bit and you may want to get some fender flairs to keep the mud off the side of your truck.
