I've owned an 1998 E350 for a while (kind of clapped out but hey - it's still a 7.3) but after doing a long tow with it, I felt I needed a better tow rig. So, a while ago I bought a 99 CC 4x4 F350 dually that has 200k on the clock but was in nice shape - stock as far as I know. I've done a lot of front end suspension work to the truck. After that I didn't drive it much until the last couple of weeks when I did a long tow (3000 mi) with it. The dually part worked out great, the rig was much more stable. I did make the trip without incident but I have uncovered a list of problems. The noise was incredible, I had to wear ear plugs. It's difficult to describe, it was just in general LOUD. Also the truck had no power and mileage was horrible - 9mpg although I wasn't loaded very heavy, probably no more than 5k total trailer weight.
Other than my two 7.3 vehicles, I have not been in any other 7.3s so I don't really know if what I'm experiencing is normal or what to do to address these problems, that's why I'm here. Ok, time to get off this computer and get outside to look at this truck...
