decide what is most important to you- reliability, fuel economy, simplicity. if you want big HP numbers to brag about, the 7.3 is not going to make you happy.
you can make 400hp on the 7.3 easy, and cheaply. a little more with some 'inexpensive' mods.
to break the 400hp barrier, you are looking at MAJOR mods. its not gonna come cheap, and you are NOT going to make 20mpg. stock tranny is not going to hold it. fuel system has to deliver it. hpop has to flow major oil. potentially upgrade rods, head gaskets, etc... a blueprint motor if you will. major hp like that also means less reliability.
crew cab short bed- only ONE is known to exist, and it was a custom fab.

Yep.That pretty much sums it up.My dad has an '01 350 and the only problem he has had were the glow plugs (120+k on it)And the turbo froze on her.and he works her hard.Draws alot of hay for the farm,Heavy farm equipment.

so i have been hearing some stuff about the 6.0 making 400 hp with just a tune and exhaust. is this true? also is the 6.0 as bad as everyone says it is?
i honestly need a truck to tow with. i mean tow around 15-17k on regular basis been doing that about once a week with the girl im trying to get with boss 3500 chevy diesel hauling hay and it pulls it nice for a stock truck. i want to make decent power i know im going to have to build a tranny no matter what. wish ford had a tranny like the alison tranny or do they idk tell me more
