Mosquito's are a real pain up here. They are thick at times during the summer. So many that is makes it quite miserable to get out and do anything.
The Alcan is just another highway anymore. Not the adventure it was 20 years ago or even 10. About all paved now and plenty of services along the way.
I would call Alaska many things but not romantic. I will be out of here in another 19 years. The day after I retire we are moving south. We figure we will just start driving south and stop when someone asks what the electrical cord hanging out from under the bumper is for. That will be just about far enough.
