You want hot?

Last summer while on a month long trip to the deserts of the SW, my son and I were visiting Death Valley. It was 127 degrees at Furnace Creek that day.

While driving up and out of the valley towards Beatty, my 4runner started getting hot - not out of coolant hot, just the temp gauge going up. We turned on the heat to keep the engine cool.

The air coming out of the vents was 172 degrees as measured by a thermometer I had stuck in the vents. We drank a lot of water coming out of that valley that day!

I am glad we aren't experiencing our normal 100* temps everyday like we have the past dozen summer. I think we have only hit 100 for two days this summer. Its nice having a break from while everyone else is getting it. The only thing out here in West Texas this summer is the humidity. We have already got our yearly rainfall total in mid June.

If I remember right I was in Death Valley when it was 132. The Accord stayed normal even with the air on.

Yep;
Not even the lizards like it in Furnace Creek. Actually, going through there in the summer is very dangerous. If you break down, you are in deep trouble. Some cell phones do not work there. At over 120 degrees, it does not take long to die of dehydration.
