that stuff doesnt even rate a buzz, but then i've been spoiled by the best beers in the world (as i type this on my 4th Firestone)

I have already said it, first DUIs usually do not go to jail wether you like it or not, he is not getting special treatment. This would be his first DWAI so he could get 2-180 days but there is not mandatory sentance:

Complain about DUI penalties being too weak all you want but give the "getting off easy" crap a break, they all get off easy although .08 and .05 for DWAI is a bit low IMHO.

This will be going off topic a little, but I do believe the DUI penalties are pretty lax. Yes the first offense should be jail and confiscation of vehicle. I also feel the punishment should fit the crime. If a drunk driver causes an accident that kills someone, that's murder, he should receive the death penalty and his death sentence should be that he's run over by a vehicle. Do that a few times, and the DUI's would drop significantly.

You can just borrow someone else's car.

They will also use their riding lawn mowers. Country singer George Jones did that once. When he was married to Tammy Wynette, his drinking was so bad that she hid all the car keys, and all the booze. He just got on his riding lawn mower and rode it to the liquor store.
