first time offense...... how many does it take to kill someone?????
first .088 which is barley out of regs, still he should be shot dead on the spot, i have zero compasion for dui/dwi Period.
there is no reason to ever get behind a wheel and endanger my family or someones else family because of someones poor judgement brought on by alcohol, or drugs even.
ran through a stop sign.... would you like to be the car that just pulled away from teh stop sign and BAM your dead
this day in age if your out drinking there is no reason you cant take a cab and get your car the next day.
do i like to drink, you betcha, do i get behind the wheel even after one NEVER .
we have enough going on on the roads to deal with, lets not add drunks etc.
just like cell phones, you hit me while yapping on a cell phone, there will be hell to pay, call me an A hole but thats my opinion.
hit me or cause harm to my family due to alcohol or drugs, you better go move in with osama, because its going to be ugly.
we are way to lax on dui in this country and even more blind eyed when it comes to boating and drinking
one more thing since i am ranting. for some UNFR we as americans seem to think its our God given right to drink and drive and we should be allowed numerous infractions. this total BS and once should be it, no drive ever again with a mandatory 1 year in jail, if you hurt someoene else or kill em you go for the electric chair, no sitting in a cell contemplating, and then your family shall pay resistituion since your no longer able.
want to talk about petaphiles -mad -mad
step down off the box now
have a woderful day
Powerboatr, in general I agree with you on DUIs but the problem is you can't suddenly go overboard and get more restrictive on this guy just because he owns Coors and is a Senator. There are many other DUI cases each day to get mad about. How about the illegal alien that kills people on his third offense with no license or registration? Also, I do not know the laws in Colorado but in Nevada no one goes to jail for a first offense. It is a $3,500 fine, lost license, and then way overpriced insurance.
I do not think it is fair to give someone life for killing people while letting others that were lucky enough to miss people off with a fine. The possibly fatal decision was made when they chose to drive drunk, it was only luck that kept them from killing someone. I think is should be based on BAC not outcome and over .25% should make you loose your license for life plus a 15% of your income for 3 years fine.
I am not against cell phones in cars if you can handle it. I have prevented many accidents that others almost caused while I was on the phone. For me the radio is more dangerous than a cell phone.
I guess what I am saying is, I kind of grade on a curve and while other figures are getting caught and making excuses he did not and apologized. I would not be suprised if Coors makes a big contribution to MADD in the near future either.
