I have a 99 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke that i would like to make louder. M main plan is to remove muffler an install a straight pipe, then install an exsahst brake kit that i found online however, i would also like to replace the factory blowoff valve for the turbo with an after market valve that will give me the nice whooosh when i release gas and shift. My bigest problem is to find a "blowoff valve" and then the next is to find and replace the factory part. Any advice is greatly apreshiated thank you

Welcome to the site. The exhaust being gone will be nice, but if you want to do all that other stuff be my guest.

Ya well thats my main problem, I cant find any information that will tellme if there is a BOV. or if ther is anouther device that acts as the BOV. The closest i got was the wastegate valve but im not shure if that will give me the result that I am looking for and fords service cd-rom stateds that miss calibration of the wastgate valve can damage the turbo and or the engine. This is the reason I decided to look for help here. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very greatfull. Thank you

Welcome to SDD!:sweet

Sorry to tell you but the 7.3 PSDs don't have BOVs. There's no throttle plate to slam 20+ lbs of boost against like in a gasser. BD diesel makes a BOV for diesels but it's a race only piece for those trucks running 50+ lbs of boost like the compound turbo'd dodgeCummins.

The whoosh you hear is a noise the air in the intake tract makes when the engines demand for air diminishes on throttle lift. Get an open air intake, that will make the whoosh more pronounced!:)

what exhaust do you have on the truck right now? if its stock, look at my sig for napa/walker BTM muffler. its basically a glasspack. at least it you will be legal that way. $65+/-

to make it whine more, strip the insulation off the driver side IC hose. yo will hear screaming from the turbo.

then make yourself the 50 DIY intake in the wiki.

with this setup, you WILL hear the turbo spool up and down.

you will not get the whosh but a nice turbo noise.

exhaust brake - well you already have 3/4 of one- the electropnic backpressure valve. EBPV. many of us have selectively switched/wired it up so that it will engage when the brakes are engaged. saem sort of thing, but propably no the 'noise' you are looking for.
