What are your RPM's when it happened? Either drive faster or drop it one like you did. I've been surge free at any RPM with the housing but when I'm moving cattle or hay it's dropped into 4th just because I think she drives better spun up. Sounds awesome too, can't wait to put the wheel that I've had on the shelf for over a year.:D

You at least need a wheel. :sweet
Yeah, I totally agree with you, I don't hesitate to drop it one gear when it is pulling real hard, but I am talking about little bumps in the road (like overpasses, etc) and she would start surging. I am aiming to be able to get over bumps in the road without downshifting to stop the surge.

A WW will not cure a bad case of surge!!! If your going to do it the best set-up for a fix is the ATS housing. If your in anyway thinking about going any firther, save your money and go for a turbo... I first got a WW, helped but did not stop, next added an ATS housing, cured, now removing all this to add a BB turbo.
It will help, though, right? Even a small improvement would be worth it. Like I said, I'm not looking to pull 12% grades in overdrive at 22K (even though the truck would do it) I just want to get over the bumps in the road without having to downshift 'cause of surge.

I have zero practical application with the WW, so you guys are all helping.

IMO the ported shroud will only save an hour or so. Hoss pm me for me cell number and we can talk about it since I've been around the block a few times on this. It's really not so bad, just dedicate a Saturday or Sunday, take your time and enjoy it. Or maybe thats whats wrong with me, I enjoy this kind of stuff.
All you nice folks that offered support can expect I'll take you up on it as soon as I get my wheel in. I figure between Budro and Big Joe alone I'll be able to pretty much get 'er figured, but any other input would be appreciated.

I'll probably order the wheel tonight. Any suggestions on the shop to buy it from?

Got mine from Garrett @BCD now with BCDP. I know the wheel that I helped TeamPennin install was from Bob @ Dieselsite and it needed to have the threads cleaned up with a tap. 1/4-28 tap IIRC. Budro has also run into 2 wheels from him with thread problems.:dunno

I took a short cut most guys don't agree with but all I did was use a 3/8 impact to spin it slowly one direction then reversed the impact to give it a quick shot. After the second try it came right off. I had problems with the threads too and had to run a tap in the WW to remove a burr. Less than a half hour to do it that way.

thats 4 wheels and counting..........

I just thread the wheel backwards onto the shaft and let the shaft clean up the burrs
