These trucks always have a little bit of a rough cold start/a little white smoke when it gets colder outside. If you feel it is really bad, I would take it back to the shop, have them keep it overnight, and run an injector buzz test when it is COLD. The buzz test is an advanced diagnostic function on their scan tool. The scanner will rapidly pulse (buzz) the injectors, all at once, and then one at a time to determine if one or more are malfunctioning. Lots of times you can have a sticky injector when cold that clears up when warm. It is common when experiencing really rough starts to have the injectors tested, have them all pass warm, and have 1, 2 or 3 fail when tested cold.

Another issue these trucks have is an exhaust back pressure valve. It will close when starting cold to help the truck warm up. If it sticks shut or is malfunctioning you could have an extended period of loss of power. It looks almost like a throttle butterly and is in the exhaust tube right after the turbo. It is possible to clean them or replace the actuator, but a lot of people just get rid of them. (search for ebpv delete)

I am not sure... but I dont believe the 6.0 has an EBPV since it has the variable turbp... i believe the EBPV is a 7.3 only item.......

Maybe give them a call, I would suspect you have a sticky injector or 2 when your truck is cold. If you take it back and tell them it is not better, same problem, they might even wave the diagnostic charge to do the further testing. Do you have a warranty still?
