need paint advise for rims

hello!
I have ford 2001, the car is not in a good condition and it needs some restoration. I want to begin with the removing rusty spots from the rims. Then i want to repaint them in black. Who can give me any hints about affordable and proper paint for this type of restoration.

powder coating actually works the best..
acrylics will work if you use a flex agent

I'd have to agree on the powder coating. Painting will work though. It's all about the prep. Sanding and cleaning the surface to promote good adhesion.

No, I'm limited in the budget, so I can not powder coat them now.

Our Michigan winters are really hard on aluminum wheels - lots of corrosion especially where the weights are mounted. I tried everything to restore the wheels on my previous truck - a 99 F350 - and finally decided to have them sandblasted and painted with a satin black epoxy. The results were AWESOME! After 3 years, NO corrosion at tall. My current truck is a black 2001 dually. It had a similar problem but not nearly as severe. Even so, I had the wheels painted the same way, except this time using a high gloss black. The results are just as good. This truck is all black, and after having the wheels done I decided to go all out and black-out everything except for the Ford oval emblem. I did it myself using VHT Epoxy spray and either sandblasted or hand sanded everything prior to painting. In my experience sandblasting is the best way to do adequately prep the surface so the paint will bond. Time will tell how the VHT compares. Good luck!
