Newbie need help

Hello and I NEED HELP ! 2001 f-250 sd 7.3 service engine soon light is on on dash. I was told this is the same as check engine light on our car, won't pass smog with light on. Thanks California. Was told I needed GPCM wiring harness. I Can have the code cleared light goes out for short time, then back on. Tried to zip tie both black and green plugs to GPCM body with no luck of light going out. Can you help me out? Something to do with the Glow Plugs ? Could you spell that out ??

Glow plug control module. Iirc, the cali emissions trucks got those instead of just a normal relay.
