yeah me and some guys who actually know what their doing with a psd are gonna get together probably next weekend. depending on when i'm working. hopefully we can get it goin' next weekend and maybe i'll figure out how to do this myself. since my girlfriends dad's truck is doin' the same thing. except mine has only been doing it for like a week maybe and his has been doing it for about 2 or 3 years, he just plugs it in every night if it's gonna get below 45 degrees outside and then he will plug it in again when he gets to work.

but how come when that happened the battery gauge didn't do like normal but now it is? i will get some guys around here that i know to help me jerk everything apart one of these days.
Read this.....The glow plug ON time is dependent on oil temperature and altitude. The glow plugs come on between 1 to 120 seconds depending on oil temperature and do not come on at all if EOT is above 55°C (131° F). Verify glow plug control ON time by using NGS PID GPCTM.
EOT temperature below 49°C (120°F).
Key on, engine off.
Measure voltage between center terminal of glow plug shunt and battery ground. If you can , you should read EOT with a scanner to see what it is seeing when the oil is actually cold,,, Just a thought...Rick...

ok yesterday on my way home my batteries both died while i was sitting at a stop light. luckily i have a new alternator and it ran me to my house. i got my stepdad to take me to get new batteries and a little over $200 later i'm good again. heres my question. when i had the old batteries i would start the truck and it would fire rough at first for like a second then smooth out gradually. i was guessing b/c of the glowplugs. well now it starts a lot quicker and extremely smooth after gettin' those new batteries. also my battery guage would come on but failed to drop back down in the mornings then do like normal after i ran it with the old batteries, but now it does just like normal every time. could my problem have been having really poor batteries?

Poor batteries are the biggest problems with these diesels. They can cause all sorts of problems beyond yours. Just replace them in pairs and you will be fine.

yup that's what i did. 2 interstate's. wanted the optima's, but funds would not allow for the extra 50 per battery. i'm hoping that the batteries were the problem since i've had this truck since september and i've already replaced the tranny, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, fuel pump, water seperator valve, and batteries. and to think that i was looking at a gpr or glowplugs. that's why i'm hoping that was my problem. it seems like this truck has been nothing but trouble since i got it. large price to pay, but i'm willing to spend it since it's the exact truck i wanted.
