I know this isn't the exact forum for this but the trailering forum doesn't seem to get too much traffic so i'll start here.

I have a 2002 f250 extended cab 4x4 with the 7.3 power stroke. I recently installed a hitch and wanted to install the electrical for it. The Ford harness kit is on eternal back order so i got one from Curt. When trying to hook it up I found i had no power at the connector for lights. I have 12v at the wire to charge the trailer but none for lights. I checked the fuses under the dash and they all look good. i checked the two small relay boxes on the driver side fender and they had relays in them, but nothing to say with relay does what.

I'm stuck on this and would really appreciate some help.

thanks in advance.

i found the two relay boxes under the hood on the driver side fender. the one closer to the fender had 3 relays, 1 large and 2 small. the large one i figured out went to the a/c and the 2 small ones clicked in time with the turn signals so im guessing that they are working, but still no power to the trailer connector. i only found one ground down there and im going to clean it up. any other ideas anyone?

How about the fuses?

There are separate fuses for trailer Left/Right/Taillights.

Yeah check the 7.5 amp fuses under hood.

To expand on what they have said, your owner's manual will give you a circuit by circuit listing of what fuses protect what and the location of the serviceable fuses, circuit breakers, relays, and fusible links. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Yes it does and I can tell you from experience that the 7.5's under the hood have to do with the lights.

Also check for any corosion on the pin / socket contacts. I found using a dielectric grease helps in minimizing any corosion problems and keeps the harness and trailer lights fully functional.
