my daughter (almost 16:eek: ) is on restriction, computer restriction that is. But my problem is that she needs the computer for school work, term papers and what not. My ? is can I block certain websites that she frequents often, i.e. www.myspace.com and aol instant messenger??? I would like to just shut down the whole thing but that is just not feasible:confused: :dunno :dunno

If it's preventing her from the internet that's easy, just remove the NIC(Network Interface Card) from the case, all other PC functions will be fine :sweet

Yes you can block certain sites but you need additional software such as NetNanny or something like it. Fortunately, my daughter still only frequents Disney.com so I have yet to have to face this issue. There are several software packages that will allow this type of blocking. If she doesnt need the net for homework, assuming you have a router, you can assign her machine a static IP address and block net access to that IP - she wont get anything until you unblock.

If you're using IE (gag) then parental controls are built in and work accpetably for someone who isnt' going to search for a way around them

go to start → settings → control panel → internet options → choose security tab → choose sites to restrict → add the sites you don't want her going to.

AIM is another story it's honestly easiest to just remove the program and block aol.com so she can't download it again unless you have other people in the house who use it.
