I was reading a thread here.
I have an early(10/98) 99 truck. I know i need the older higher priced wheel front hubs. (when i replace them)
It was statedi can use the 99 thru 04 hub? I just need to change rotor too?
This rotor, would a stock one from the newer years work? Does it have to be a custom part to make it happen.
I have no problem in how to chnge them. Just unsure about the early 99 hub conversion? seemsi can buy a conversion shipped for 650 with rotors. But i can buy hubs for 250 for both(national) Then just find rotors. Actually i am looking to do one in the near future. One hub and rotor from say an 03 it will fit?
please explain.
thx

the top hat is different on the rotors from early to late..
couldn't tell ya the difference in the hubs..
the brake caliper bridges are different too...
thing to do would be buy all this stuff and convert..

or you could buy the correct hub for it and not worry about having to buy all the rest of that garbage...

I was thinking i only need to change the rotor and hub. The early hub is 500 bucks compared to say 125. Their is a conversion kit of rotors and hubs, (only needing the 2 parts). But it states will fit thru 04 also. If thats the case I was thinking no bridge change needed. The hubs and rotors are shallower on early 99. wish i knew if the newer parts just go on.
thx

I have a 99.5 truck with a build of 2/99. The brakes and hubs were the "old" type. I replaced the hubs and the rotors to a 2000+ year. All has worked fine since. I didn't need to do anything different to the caliper or bridges.

I put the newer bearings in & only had to space the brake caliper out about 3/16". I had to do this in a rest stop at night , about 400 miles from home. 60,000 miles later it is still OK.
