Need a little help...

Ok so my '04 F-250 has been kind of a head ache since I got it...but I love her and am not willing to give it up so here's my issue. Monday I was on my way home from a friends and it started doing this odd shifting thing. It would rev up around it shifting. It stopped when I hopped on the freeway and started up again the next afternoon. Than it didn't do it again until this evening. It's kind of like it's slipping but very...well...weird. It doesn't seem to do it under any specific situations it's very random. It revs up either right before or right after it shifts. It doesn't seem to matter how hard I have my foot in it nor is it a specific gear. I am hoping someone here has some insight, I am planning to take it to the local diesel shop this week but if I can avoid that I'd like to...

does it matter what gear it is shifting into too, or is it a specific gear?

when was the last time trans has been serviced?

The gear it's going into doesn't seem to make a difference. It's very sporadic, it acts like it's slipping kinda but not like anything I've ever experienced.

I have owned it 4 months not sure when the Tranny was last serviced...

I have to agree with ckamp52, sounds like a torque converter problem.

thats where i would start, service the trans(full flush) and also wouldn`t hurt to check for codes....
