Here I am, bowing before you all.

I have been quite the dink lately, largely because I crawled inside a Jim Beam & Leinenkugel boilermaker for a couple of weeks.

I responded inappropriately to several stressful situations in my life.

Work sucks. There I said it. After 23 years, being an ex-technician ("I pay you to SELL, not to wrench") retail employee of the largest tire manufacturer in the world just isn't getting it anymore.
However, I am still employed.

We had plans on moving to a farm this year.
Our house sold in 100 days. Not something everyone can claim these days.

We nearly ended up homeless.
It came down to the wire in our search for suitable properties, which we have made offer and counter offer on.. here's the new digs West and Northern Michigan Real Estate by Prudential Preferred we'll have to turn it into a "farm" ourselves, but, hope springs eternal that we can be in by March 28th...

which is when my oldest daughter leaves for school in Virginia.
This is where I'm having the hardest time. She's never been unchaperoned before that far from home. I know she's a good kid. What I worry about is the OTHER kids.

But anyway, that does not excuse my behavior.

Can you forgive me?

John

Cool new digs. Jealous doesn't even start to cover the feelings I have.

And I know I do not respond much but you always seemed to be pretty straight forward, but never a Jerk. Glad you are in a better place, both physically and mentally.

I guess I'm not sure about your behavior, as I'm not around here alot.
What i can say is my kids all left the nest so to speak, two went to college, one to the Airforce. Believe me this house was strange quiet, it was hard for the longest time, the wife and learned how to talk to each other, not like we didnt know, but now its different, its nice. My kids did not fair well in school, one liked to party, the other, I'm not really sure, she will tell me someday. Third child was the hardest, went to Iraq, how that was hard, emotions all over the place, he came home safe. Your daughter will make her way in the world, yes she will need help, she has a good mind, and a strong heart, you and your wife taught her right from wrong, she will do good, but keep the phone close, shes gonna call, trust me. Just because they leave, doesnt mean, they no longer need a parent, they never stop needing us, its just different, mostly on their terms. Hang in there my friend, your still daddy.

once a child leaves for school all you can do is hope that you have instilled all the right values weather or not they continue is totally up to them they are adults we have to treat them as such, if they fall help them up, don't pick them up, or they may use it as a crutch. best advice I have ( Be a parent to your minor children! Be a friend to your adult children!) it seem a lot of us parents want to be our kids friends first. Just my $.02 Good luck to you and your daughter!
