My Boy's Taking me to Daytona 500!!!!

I'd been thinking about going down to Nashville to visit my son before I go back to work the end of Feb. Since he gets all those federal holidays off, I thought Presidents day would be the perfect time to do it.

So this past week my son calls and asks me if I'd be interested in the deal of a lifetime. As it turns out, my son does computer work for the father of Jack Sprague, one of the usual leaders in the NASCAR Craftsman truck series. Well, Jack Sprague occassionally gets tickets and pit passes to his dad, who sometimes passes some along to my son. The Craftsman truck race at Daytona is Friday evening and my son and I have pit passes for Jack Sprague's pit. And then, we are staying over for Sunday and he is taking me to the Daytona 500, turn 4, 4th row of seats. Can you say EARPLUGS!!!!

I can't ******* wait!!!!!!! This makes up for all the tools my son stole out of my toolbox and lost, the time he snuck my pickup out and went off-roading with it, left my BB gun out in the rain, and the list goes on & on & on.

I've been wanting to see a NASCAR race a super speedway like Talladaga or Daytona for probably half my life. This is like a dream come true for me, and my boy is making it possible. Every dad should be half as proud as I am.

Have a great time there. I was there in 90. GOt to watch them film parts of Days of Thunder. You will be able to feel the cars flying past where you are sitting. Keith

There were times, where to coin a Bill Cosby phrase, I wanted to " Take him out, and make another that looks just like him". But I'm glad I "kept" him.

Yer guna have a BALL. There's nothing like being there, Real Time. The Sounds, Smells ... All of it.

As some have said: It'a ZOO.. with the crowd of peopole'n all, but worth every minute.

I'm going to all the Vegas, Phoenix & Fontana races this year.. 4 days each .. can't wait.

Going to a NASCAR event ? It's like the "Harley" thing:

If I tried to exsplain it to ya.. you prolly still would'nt understand.

UPDATE!!!

I'm on my way. I'm at the airport, through passenger screening and waiting to board the plane. I haven't been this excited about anything much for a long time, woke up at 5 am this morning and was too excited to get back to sleep.
Tomorrow is a day for bumming before we drive to Daytona Beach on Thurs. I might just take a drive over to Bean's and say hi.

BTW: I did remember to bring the camera, so I should be able to get some pics for ya'll.
