Do you remember Pismo without restrictions in the dunes? I used to Jeep there in the '70s and '80s. I went back years later and they had closed a lot of the dunes. :( :(

I sure do !! Nowadayz the Dune Watchers and Bird Lovers have got it so tied up... You can't hardly move around.. without running in to a "Protected Zone". They move them daily.. I hear.. just to Hassle ya.

It's like the Delta Smelt thing, IMO. EPA Geeks.. Outa Control. Sad.

i think it's 30 inches.

now that ive thought about it, i remember when i was stationed overseas at Spangdahlem AB, Germany, they require you to go through a pretty vigorous vehicle inspection. they dont do any type of emmisions test, but i remember the most common things people were popped for were headlights not properly aimed, e-brake cable tension, bad shocks, and diferent tire sizes. i had bought a car with 225/50/r16's in the front and 225/60r16's in the back. i had to go get 225/50's before they would pass me for inspection(even though some cars come stock like that). i'm sure they would notice my non-existant muffler. me and the wife(also military) plan on going back overeseas when we get the chance. i'm gonna hold on to it for now.

BTW, i noticed today my egt's at highway speed have dropped 50-75 F with the muffler off.

Update:
so i got my delete pipe and installed it. it cut down on alot of the in-cab noise. i can no longer hear the turbo near as much unless i have the passenger window down. sounds great when its boucing off objects on the passenger side! overall i'm happy with it. i now prefer the sound of my truck over any gasser!
