For a while now, we've had a 04 Chevy Cavalier for the wife. Our daughter's been driving a 97 Grand Am while going to college. But last spring, Mrs TG decided to swap cars with our daughter so she would have more reliable wheels while working in Nashville last summer. So for about a year now, Mrs TG has been driving the beater Grand AM. While it runs good, its been getting more & more expensive to maintain. I decided I'd rather put some of the Grand Am repair $$$ towards a monthly payment, so we went shopping.
We went to talk to a dealership where one of the salesmen used to work with me at the RV place. We test drove several cars and narrowed it down to a 08-09 Chevy Malibu. With my uncertain job picture, we decided that keeping the monthly payment down would be wise. We started talking about former factory program cars with 20,000 miles or so. He said they had a Pontiac version of the Malibu, a 2008 G6 coming from a dealer auction with 26K on it.
When the G6 came in, I went to look at it and it was exactly what we were looking for. So likely tomorrow, Mrs TG will be driving a 08 G6 instead of a tired Grand Am. It'll be nice having her driving something where a problem will be a surprise instead of an expectation.
