Yes, northwest corner of south Carolina
mild hills here
nit really any in the directions I tow

where we go to play in winter snow there are small mountains, parts of the blue ridge
but nothing like the Rockies

as fate would have it, I am missing track time ROGHT NOW due to electrical gremlins in the cobra

working with a new tuner/dyno guy right now, who . . .
Knows well, and is buddies with the folks from Spartan Diesel Technologies
( I had no idea they were <1 hour up the road)
they were actually JUST HERE last week, working on 6.7l tunes for '11's

anyway

the guy here pointed out that while I could probably get away just fine with the 3.31's,
considering how little I'll be towing
He pointed out that it would only represent a few hundred rpm's difference
and thus, nit a very notable fuel savings

thoughts?

3.31's might put you below the power band when cruising down the freeway. I read 2000 rpm at 65 mph or so. Anything much less and you might be using more power to maintain this speed and thus more fuel. Towing is not the only thing you have to consider.

Well then if your going to buy a 2011, 3.73's aren't available with a diesel. 3.55 is the lowest gear you can get with a Single rear wheel diesel.

Debate was really more 3.31 vs 3.55
I may not have translated my thought into text as clearly as I should have
didn't know 3.73 was not available, but wasn't really considering going that low anyway

any other thoughts on 3.55 vs. 3.31???
Thx,
doc
