so Tuesday night, a cold snap moves through the area, and I go to leave work and the truck wont start... coughing and sputtering and belching up HUGE coulds of white smoke... I mean my ol' truck FOUGHT HARD before it gave up and caught and fired...

came about two seconds from going back into the shop and grabbing a can of ether...

Thursday, I recheck the glowplug relay... remember this? http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5994&highlight=relay

to make a long story a short one... five of the eight $27. glow plugs JUNK...

think the chicken (GPR) came first or the egg (burned up glow plugs)?

so you paid 27 dollars per glow plug??? i work for a international dealer and i think list isn't that much. i called a ford dealer down here in st.louis and they told me 16.15 for each glow plug. where did you buy them from???

I am guessing they are not Motorcraft Beru's ? If not then that is why they failed. Don't use anything but Motorcraft plugs that say Beru on them or you will have trouble.

Last night I got in from a trip to find that someone had apparently tripped over my cord and unplugged the truck. Temp was around -20 but the truck fired right up. GPR is over three years old and the plugs are two years old. Buy good stuff the first time and you will thank yourself later. By the way I run synthetic oil and would not recommend starting at -20 without it..

yeah but my local Jesse Zone didn't have them... Lincoln dealer had one, Ford had none... for a town of 80,000 people, you can't buy a stone around here on a Saturday...

and the Motorcraft Beru's were the ones I replaced.

at least if any of the new ones fail in a year, I can get a labor claim on them from NAPA...
