Anyone modify their 6.0 cat converter by installing (pushing) an empty pipe through the middle of it? If so, what diameter pipe did you use?

Just failed visual inspection because cat was gone. MBRP test pipe is in place. Normally I would just gut the inside but I am afraid the turbulence from exhaust spinning around in the empty space will cause backpressure problems.

sounds like you're only going to have it on for inspection. If so then gutting the entire thing would be the easy answer. I've run my 7.3 with an empty cat converter camber for 20k or so before I put a 4" pipe through mine. If you're going to take the time to install a pipe then I'd install the same size as you have for your exhaust at the point of the converter.

The cat pipe I have is 4 inches in diameter. Wouldn't the pipe I need be smaller than 4 inches so it slips through the cat pipe?

How long of a pipe did you use?

Just take a breaker bar and beat out all of the good stuff out of the cat. It is that easy.
