After installing the EGR cooler delete on my truck I modified the EGR valve to give the appearance of stock. In my state, diesels are required to pass bi-annual SMOG testing. They conduct a visual inspection and exhaust (visual) pipe (smoke) check.
Using a chop saw I removed the internals of the EGR valve so that when you look at the engine it looks original. I still get CEL pertaining to EGR flow which I will address in the future when I actually find what pressure switch measures the EGR flow or just install SCT tuner.
This replaced the flat plate give with the EGR delete kit,
