The major problem is that the operators dont listen to us when we say to pull over when the transmission is over heating. :rant The other problem is that the Mattracks put a pretty big strain on the drivetrain - transmission specifically - in this case the operator didnt pull over when the trans temp guage maxed out. A few miles later a transmission line blew (see red line leading to truck in second picture) and the transmission caught on fire.

DAMM thats HOT ! i bet the trannies dont last long in
THOSE trucks !

It was only a 5.4L so it wasnt a Torqueshift :)

We almost had an 05 with the 6.0 to up into flames. The firemen brought thier crash recovery truck in today with the same problem, around the transmission all the split loom that covers the wires is all melted.

Hope everyone got out !! No Warning light/Buzzer about Trans temp ? Seems like they should have something other than that Ford gauge, that no one looks at. :dunno

Looks like Retro Cargo for "The Ship" to me.

I would be HIGHLY tempted to wire in an engine shutdown switch when the tranny temp reaches a certain temp...........:dunno

you wouldnt be able to use the factory gauge for that...
probably would go a LONG way if these guys had a REAL
indication that things were getting hot.
