I also agree with you that STALL is not a problem besides that it sounds kinda cool.
The fact that to many people, stall sounds cool, basically proves to me that it is harmless. I know, that is a strange statement to make. Let me back it up...

The question is, why to people think it sounds cool? The answer that I have gotten most often is because it makes your truck sound like a "big rig". That means that people are used to hearing the big OTR trucks stall every time they shift. You know the old, vrrrrrroooom, pst, vroooooom, pst, vroooom. Next time you are driving, pay attention. Most of them do make the sneeze noise at every shift.

If big rigs that go 3 million miles on a single turbo can stall every time they shift (which, with 18 forward gears in some cases, is one HECK of a lot more than WE shift) and still go 3 million miles on the factory turbo, it can't be that bad for them.

Silly logic, I know, but it does sort of make intuitive sense. If stall was harmful, don't you think that the OTR drivers, who base their livelyhood off of low-maintenance, low-repair driving, would have found a cure for it? And to extrapolate, that since they haven't found a cure (because the trucks still do it) that they are not worried about it?

I guess it is another way to look at it.

To answer the other question asked, yes, the Wicked Wheel is the same wheel as the early 99 wheel, and the 94-97 wheel. It is also known by several other names, Swisher, for instance, and I know Blackclous sells one under some other name. They are all more or less the same, AFAICT.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even with the Wicked Wheel, it is still possible to surge your turbo (though much more difficult). Many chips and tuners are capable of going beyond the revised map of even a WW enhanced stock turbocharger. So, just because you have one does not mean that it won't surge. YOu should still listen for it, and adjust accordingly if it happens.
