honestly im pretty happy w/ the mpg im recv'ing...its the cost per gallon
that stings.

I realize im a lot better off than most (dont need my truck for work...other
than to get to the airport or a customer...and i get reimbursed for that).

We had not yet reached the 100 dollars in grocery @ kroger again...
or i would have been paying 4.22 per gallon (instead of the 4.32)

i was pretty low (light came on) and i needed 5 gallons (18 bucks) for
the mowers.

im sure the credit card company is goin' nutz...took me THREE swipes
of the card...2 for the truck and one for the mower gas can...at least
my kids gonna make some $ w/ the mower ! (so see i am blessed) !

Since 3/20/08, I have driven 7315 miles (probably 60% highway and 40% city) and averaged 16.2 miles per gallon. Highest mpg was 19.5 (almost all highway at 65 mph, no load) and lowest was 12.2 (almost all highway, pulling box trailer [unknown weight] and it was really windy). The only mods I have are a test pipe and K&N intake, which I bought and installed before I joined SDD.

The best way to increase your fuel efficiency is to adjust the nut connecting the drivers seat to the steering wheel.

I average 17.7 with the 1996 at 2000 PRM (60mph) truck is 6,280 pounds empty

18.3 with the 2004 at 21oo rpm (62 mph) truck is 8,390 pounds empty

There is No known FOMOCO or SAE standard or procedure for this specific adjustment. Therefor, any common available tool(s) that will facilitate the desired end result, by the customer/owner, is recommended, and authorized.

a few thoughts spewing out of my head when i read all of this....

1. why did you take OFF the tonneau cover? i'd put it back on for the benefit of mpg gain!!

2. i don't know i'd do a pcm flash to original, the updated ones are set to run better, hence that is why they were updated...now there is a company who does pcm recalibrations for better fuel economy... $100-125 iirc

3. i run 305/70/16 and made sure my computer was programmed for them...it was not

4. i would recommend a zoodad/doodad mod...air inlet access to the factory air filter snorkel...helped on mine tremendously-other than that i am stock and i gained 100-150 miles per tank.

5. as for different fuels; not sure on that one. however, i have been running an additive (dieselkleen) in mine for some time - 8 oz/fillup

I made my tonneau cover. I have a cloth one on mine, the fiber glass ones are heavy and cost some bucks. I made one for a guy to use with his goose neck trailer to help his mileage.

Hey have you guys not watched Myth Busters? They say a stock truck with no tonnue gets more milage.

Oh yea just ran 800 mile round trip with my 04 ext cab, 3:73, with 285/75/16's, set the cruise on 72. Hand cal, and got 16.2 mpg.
