Hi all.

In Denmark we have some pretty messed up laws regarding big trucks and rear seats. In short, I'm not allowed to have the rear bench of my '00 F-250 Lariat extended cab installed. And because i have the captains chairs with armrests, I am only able to legally room for 2 persons in the truck.

Now, my question is: Is it possible to remove the center console and install the foldable middle seat? I wanna keep my captains chairs, but I figure I'll have to loose the armrests.

-Thanks

Yes you can swap out the console for the center seat. Don't forget to get the seat belt assembly for the middle seat. As you have already figured out, you will have to remove the armrests on your captains chairs to get the seat to fit in between.

Out of curiosity do you know the reasoning behind the law regarding no rear seat in a truck?

Looks like we could switch parts! My interior is light brown. How about yours?

Ponyexpress: I just cut a long story short, but I understand your curiosity! Here it goes: In Denmark, cars with white license plates is paid with the full tax (approx 180% of the value of the vehicle), and owners can do whatever they want with them. If you have a company, you can have a car or truck with yellow licence plates, wich indicates that there is no tax to be paid, but in this case, some regulations apply. For instance you can't use the truck privately and no back seats are allowed (unless the vehicle is specifically registered for personel transport). Private persons can also drive with yellow plates, but have to pay tax (approx 130% of the vehicle value) in order to use the car as private persons. There is still some regulations that separates privately owned yellow plated trucks from white plated ones, e.g. no back seats allowed, no equipment for camping, windows in the back can't open and so on. A lot of seemingly stupid rules, but in fact, by conforming to these rules, I saved around 15.000 $ when I bought the truck used.
So, therefore: no backseats!:sly

Well I never got around to finding a middle seat, but now my wife is pregnant, so I have to get it done in order to be able to drive with both wife and kid.
Meanwhile I read on some other forum, that the middle seat of a split bench won't fit between captains chairs!

Can anyone tell if that is wrong, because living in Denmark, I would hate to pay for both middle seat and expensive shipping to find out it won't fit.:rant

It's not like it would be easy to get rid of (sell) over here!
