how do i get these dang things gone for good?i set a trap in the vent by my computer chair and one where they were getting in from last winter.well while sitting here peruseing SDD i heard a SNAP!!!well i looked in the vent and sure as snot there was a mouse with half its head cut off :GRD :D .i cant get to the duct work under the house as it is a mobile home with a huge blanket of insulation underneath and about a foot and a half of space to work in.i cant poison them as i dont need them smelling up my house and i am sure they will get fried by the heat and smell like hell.is there something that will draw them outside and kill them there?what if they have a nest of little babies that will die and start stinkin the place up?:dunno

i hate meeses to pieces!!!:rant :rant :rant

i feel your pain rich, i trapped 2 last week, you could here them in the pantry.

a good flamethrower might work, of course, the fire dept. would have to come out to put out the fire that has engulfed you mobile home. :roflmao :roflmao

i beat one to death with a broom one night earlier in the year. made me really feel like a man, smacking that little varmit in the butt with the broom:D

this time a year they invade everything.

are they actually inside the duct work, if so, maybe set some traps at the vent openings.

thats good, i am with you rich, if one dies somewhere that you can't get too, i'm not sure how you would retrieve it.

do you have any idea where they might be entering, maybe a crack or something in the duct work ?

well, i remember you said you couldn't get under there to see, i hate to say it, but you might just have to give it a try. i have crawled under floors that were at least 18 inches, not much room, but could be done

hope your not closturphobic (wow, i doubt i spelled that right)

Just be glad you are in MA, here in CA they can have Hanta virus, no fun. I think you are going to have to go under the house, more than likely they have chewed a hole in the duct somewhere. You could get a cat and put it under there. Keep in mind the need food to live so check ALL sources of food and make sure they have none. I like to bait my trap with mouse poison ;). Keep goign with the traps. My uncle said he caught 6 in one night once. I have been putting the poison around just to keep them away. I have not had a smeel problem but my uncle said he had a few die in the walls and they dessicate and quit smelling after a bit. They are bound to die in the house if you don't do anything anyway. If you get a small cat with the right attitude it will go right in the duct and get them. Maybe a mongoose??

get an outside cat! or one of those ultrasonic gizmos. the gizmos seem to work, but drive the dog batty i think.

we used to have an 82 escort when i worked in a body shop in high school. long story short, one winter friday afternoon, i washed the car because we were slow. left the car inside to dry off. another guy went to move it because i had left it in the way and was off somewhere else. i hear my name yelled and came running. the escort was on belching smoke like a locomotive.

i had left the heater on when i had parked it. appearently mouse bedding and like got ignited, then the mouse got cuisinarted in the fan. the little bugger made a MESS! i tore the heater box and heater core out to clean the stuff out, but the car always smelled like burnt hair for like 10 years when you turned the heat on. i 'inherited' the car soon after. was like that until we got rid of it.

if i were in your state i would come by with one of our mini pipeline television systems and check out those bastards in your vent. Some times if there is another cleanout in pipes we can push stuff to that cleanout and get it out.
