Does anyone here run the Performance MBRP Turbo Back Exhaust? I'm thinking of buying the performance (since it's so damn cheap :D) but I don't know if it'd be worth it... They don't give much info as to what comes with it. Looks like it has a muffler but I don't know if it does. Thanks in advance.

MBRP offers three grades. There is an aluminized steel, 409 stainless, and 304 stainless...which is also the order it goes in price lowest to highest. The performance one is the aluminized steel.

I have the 409 version on mine and I am happy with it. It has some here and there spots of light surface rust, but nothing that in any way is eating into the pipes.

I you have to worry about the rust at all, I would skip the aluminized version.

As for what comes with it, it depends what you order. I have the off-road system...meaning no provision for the cat. If you have smog testing to worry about, DO NOT buy this one.

The standard turbo back kit should have everything you need...however, if you want some good growl, you may as well order the muffler delete pipe while you are at it. It took me about 2 weeks with muffler before I decided it was coming off.

Another option is the cat test pipe. You can use this to pull the cat, then reinstall if the need comes up.

MBRP is some good stuff. I have been very happy with mine...it's been on for about 5 years now.

Like groundhawg said, skip aluminized if you are in a rust prone area. I have the 409 duels with the 304 stainless tips. I like it very much. Being that you have a 7.3, it will probably come with piping from the turbo back with just a muffler in the middle. Or, what I would like to do, buy the muffle delete pipe and it is just straight tube on back.

i ran mbrp on ,y 7.3 and 6.0...only concern was taking the time to make sure noting touches the frame parts.
I was very pleased both with quality and price point

Thanks for all the input guys, I will be going with the Performance 4" system (just because of price) and will probably upgrade later down the road to Stainless.

Spend the money now. I'd hate to buy two exhaust systems. I have their turbo back smokers kit and got the most expensive since Im in the rust belt. Aluminized wouldnt last a yr here. I wouldnt put a muffler on it. Its not loud without a muffler. Cuttin the muffler off the stock system will def help yer truck. I ran my truck that way for awhile and it made a diff and doing the DIY intake really woke it up. Plus it sounds really sweet.

With the 'muffler delete pipe' is that just a piece to replace the muffler or is it a pipe you stick in the muffler to make it look like it has a muffler? I'm assuming it replaces the muffler all together. Just need a little clarifying.

I am running the aluminized that I installed 5 or 6 years ago for the same reason you did, price. I was in the Army and lived in NC. when I installed it but have lived back in MA. for the last three years since I retired. The aluminized has held up very well, I plow snow with mine so it sees lots of salt.
I started with the turbo back using my cat and the muffler from MBRP in the system. I then added the cat delete pipe and the muffler delete (just a piece of pipe the size of the muffler) so now it is a straight pipe.
Hope this helps.

I was figuring the Aluminized would be just fine. I mean the stock system has been on my truck for 10 years and 217k miles.... and its still in good/fair condition. And I live in Utah.... We dump salt on our roads every time there's the slightest bit of snow fall. lol :lmao
