It could be worse, TG. You could be living here on the Gulf Coast, and been the victim of a Category 3 or higher.

You should have seen my house after Hurricane Opal. I was missing entire sections of roof.

But as it has been said, bad luck comes in threes... I think you're safe for now.

Stay warm, dude!:D

I know whatcha mean!!
That's why I live here in DA U.P.

No Hurricanes
No Earthquakes
No Tidal Waves
No Volcanos
No Lahars
Very, Very Few Tornados

Falling trees & snow is about as bad as it gets.

I've been on record as saying "I'd rather spend 45 minutes :red my driveway out vs rebuilding my home after an earthquake or hurricane."

Which reminds me, I gotta pull some strings and figure out how get my new snowblower for my tractor home.

I'm kinda crippled without a turbo. :fogey

That is why I live in Michigan. Being in southern L.P we get little snow so I don't even have to worry about that, except the idiots that can't drive when there is a couple inches of snow on the ground. I also have to worry about theft more here than up north, but someone tried to break into both my garages up there. :rant

Tree situation update:

Well, I got the tree off the house. The tree service guy was able to lift the tree off the house, swing it over and drop it to the ground. Then they cut it up, mulched the branches and cut the trunk up into campfire length pieces. :sweet So I have some splitting to do and I'll have campfire wood for a LONG, LONG time.

I just had a brand new roof and seamless gutters put on this fall, so now some of that will have to be re-done. I had some leftover shingles that I used to cover over the broken & exposed sections. Hopefully that will keep it good until spring when the weather will be more agreeable for repairs.

The damage looks to be just the eave/overhang that extends outward from the last roof truss. It looks like the main roof structure is ok. Some of the main roof decking will have to be replaced because they come in 4'x8' sections. The eave is only about 1' to 2' wide, but the sections of broken decking extend another 4' to 6' into the main roof structure.

The tree scraped and put a small hole in the siding on that side of the house too, so the siding on the entire west side will have to be replaced. But since it is 15+ years old and faded, it won't match the rest of the house. So the insurance company says they'll pay to re-side the entire house. ;tu ;tu

So I think I have to say, State Farm is taking good care of me so far.  Come spring, I'll get my brand new roof & gutters restored to the way they were and get new siding to boot. :sweet

I could have come out a lot worse on the deal.
