I have posted this in the General section too but I figured it would be seen here too. When you connect to a web site such as this one all internet browsers only use one connection which is a standard. This can be overridden and if you use 16 or 32 or even 64 as a setting then web pages, especially those with lots of graphics and picts will be much faster. I haves tested it for a while and it works great. Here are the instructions, but if you do not feel comfortable editing the registry then don't try it. Note, this is for Windows XP and IE 6 or later only.
Select "start" -> "Run"->type in "regedit" and press enter
Find the following keys
[HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Internet Settings]
Hight light Internet Settings then Right-Click then New "dword value" name it "MaxConnectionsPerServer"
double-click the new entry and enter a value 16 or 32 then save
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Internet Settings]
Hight light Internet Settings then Right-Click then New "dword value " name it "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"
double-click the new entry and enter a value 16 or 32
exit regedit
restart the IE browser, should be much faster
