So armed with info I have learned the past few days (on this site I might add), I'm embarking on my maiden F-250 maintenance voyage. I bought 4 gallons of Synthetic 5w/40 oil (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel), and got me a Motocraft Oil filter at Walmart. I'll still need to order the fuel filters and air filter, as well as getting transmission fluid.

Is that a good start? Anything else I should change for baselining purposes?

For the oil change, do I need a specific Oil cap wrench? I guess I'll find out soon enough when I creep under there, but thought someone could tell me off the top of their head. :hail to anyone that offers pointers along the way.

I'll post my notes here as I go through the process.

Like Dave posted, the oil filter cap is 36mm, it is in the engine bay, not under the truck. Makes it easy and cleaner to change it out.

If you are going to the Int dealer, you can get filters, oil and fuel, the drain plug and most parts for about 1/2 what Ford charges. Same parts, just a white box instead of red.

so as I'm learning...these are the same filters as Ford originals? I know, just say it one more time for the cheap seats pls. International is just 10 miles down the road from me, so would be an easy drill....next time. Everything is on order now for Ford originals.
