I recently bought a new to me 2000 f350 cc lb 4x4 truck with 102k on it. I am planning on changing all of the fluids in the next couple of weeks. I am going to do a transmission flush and at the same time i want to install one of the Magnefine filters.

Which size do i need to order, they have 3/8", 5/16", and 1/2" And also they have some extra called "smart connects" Do i need those too? Also, where is the best location to install it. The truck has a rebuilt transmission from ford and a new cooler that has about 10k on it already.

Thanks for the help,
Tim

Tim,

I have a 2000 F250 XLT. The magnefine size that I use is 3/8". I don't use the "smart connects", just 3/8" rubber hose & stainless steel worm drive hose clamps.

I mounted my Magnefine under the front passenger wheel well for accessibility purposes. I replace mine every 30K miles

Hopes this helps,

Dont have it flushed, do it yourself.. There are too many folks that have had
trans failures after a flush by some oil change place. You dont need them mixing up all of the debris with some back flush and chemicles.

i think there is a "how to" on doing it yourself, all of the fluid flows the same way and just new trans oil is added..

Butch,
Thanks for the help.

Dmd,
I am going to flush it myself. I too have heard of too many horror stories of people getting the trans flushes at the local jiffy lube and the problems that occur afterwards. I try to take care of all the maintenance on my vehicles myself. It's alot cheaper and it also is reassuring knowing it was done right and no corners were cut.

Thanks again,
Tim
