I'm only building about 14psi of boost. That is according to my scan tool, I don't have a boost gauge yet. My question is, shouldn't it be cappable of alot more? It runs fine, no real lack of power. I just expected the reading to be much higher. I have a superchip tuner with the "tow" program installed. Otherwise, everything is stock.

i dont think thats too out of line. its hard to build a lot of boost with just a tuner that doesnt pour a lot of hp into the engine. ive got a 4in exhaust and air intake with a diablo sport predator and I can go well over 20 on the econo setting.

does it sound like you have any leaks?? I would thin that with the tow setting, you should get a little more. FYI, you won't get actual power amounts out of your programmer without exhaust and intake. I'd be lookin at a good set of gauges if you plan on runnin a chip and any other performance mods. Just my .02 good luck.

Check your hoses from the ic. If there stock they are most likely leaking.

Like JRJ said, 14 lbs aint that far outa line.

Stock, these thing just cant get enough air.. or.. get rid of it. They need to be Free'd up. Depending on Build Date & PCM used during that Build Date sequence (Lot).. Some build a bit more boost than others. A Tuner can/will give a stocker a >bit More< (Fuel ) pep , but you're stuck, with a limited amount of air (CFM) thru a stock Filter/Intake supplying the Turbo enough air to compress and a restrictive diameter exhaust. (with a G.I. can for a muffler ;) ) to exhale it thru.

Just Another one of those: Everthing is Relevent..... things.

Simply Put.

I found documentation that says 16psi is max boost stock. So mine is about right at 14psi.

I would keep the tuner off untill you get a egt gauge pyrometer what ever you want to call it or you my over temp your turbo with a stock exhaust and intake. 15 psi is normal till you open it up.
