I was preparing to do a CCV mod on my truck this morning and when I removed the air box, I saw this loose connection.

I'm going to hook it back up of course, but I have no idea what it is or does.

The red arrows in the pics are pointing to the loose connection and also to the part that flows from this connection.

I have no doubt in my mind that this has been loose every since the engine was put back in after installing head studs.

Also, my fuel mileage has been junk and I wonder now if this may or may not have something to do with it.

Please, what is this part.

Sure looks like it needs to be connected up there B. Were you able to trace that line back to another point?

In the last pic, you can see the tubing that flows from that connection.

I can't see where it goes after that.

I will look again.

some kind of ventilation? It could be causing your truck to suck air, and that could have an effect on your fuel mileage..

that looks like your exhaust back pressure sensor tube. the line if you trace it should go down to your manifold and connect down there as well, before connecting tube back up clean it and make sure no blockages are present inside tube before hooking it back up

Thank heat. I will check it again.

You were right HEAT, below is a picture of where it ends, at the manifold.

Thanks for the help.

OK, now what is it and what does it do?

There is a plug in type connector just above where that loose nut screws up tight.

Is it a sensor or something.
