Hi all, I have been putting alot of miles on the old girl lately and I was just wandering what effects this is doing. I have run around 1600 miles since Sunday night. I did around 550 miles of that today at 70-75 mph running with an empty 16 trailer and about half with around 2000lbs. I do stop around every couple of hours to drain the kidneys and to refill them so she gets to rest for about 30mins. Di I need to change the way I am running or do any extra maintenance? I now have 78k miles on the odometer and I just finished changing the tranny fluid and rear diff fluid as well as the clutches (see rear diff issues below). When do I need to address the coolant, wheel/axle bearings, transfer case fluid, etc?

Thanks
Scott

Tcase fluid every other time you change diff fluid.

What you are doing to this truck is actually better then daily driving it 5 miles one way every day. I'd go by the book with the maintainence and make sure you use quality products.

hey rs, i agree with maintain. should be no harm in drivin all those miles.

i have an '04 SRW, and it has over 130,000 on it now, no problems.

best buy i have ever made was gettin a superduty. i have put on as many as 700 miles in a day with no ill effects.

just keep the door shut and keep gettin the job done.

oh hey, keep up on the maintainence. i believe the wheel and axle bearings are grease packed, because i was asking my service mngr the same questions. i also asked about ball joints too, he said when they start having alot play, etc. time to change em to new ones.

keep on truckin. :dunno

sounds to me like youre doin' fine...keep up w/ the maint.
and run it...im not running mine as much anymore but during our
move i was running back and forth from houston to virginia fairly often.

when i got in the truck i didnt stop til i was at my destination....if i didnt
need fuel i didnt stop...and if i didnt have the trailer behind me (motorcycle
only in the bed) then i set the cruise at 80 and let 'er rip (19hrs houston
to virginia...and my WIFE was w/ me on that trip !)

keep up the maint. (dont forget the tires too) and youll be fine !

Thanks guys, I have been taking care of her the best I can. I have already changed the ball joints as well as the tires. I do however need to change the brakes when I get the time.
