Bgirls, do you have the long crank cycles after the engine is warmed up also. I bought my 03 back in October and I had to crank longer than normal to fire all the time. Then I put some cetane booster/injector cleaner in and within 1/4 of a tank,:notworthy .. now it starts within 1-2 seconds after its warmed up. Huge difference! Dont know if this helps just thought I would share. :goodluck

Morning update: 27 degrees, plugged in all night, glow plugs through 1 cycle. the crank time does not seem any shorter but no smoke on start up. i will start plugging in during the cold, but what would be causing the extended crank times i am experiencing? this is something new in the last month.

hey hey <from former stephen city resident> !
in my sig is a link to some possibly helpful items
for block heater set ups...timers etc.

I was having the same problem only the temps are not as low here. It was even taking awhile after being driven. Then it just went away. My suspicion is a bad load of fuel. I would try some fuel additive and new fuel and see how it does. Also, get it warmed up and then run it hard for a bit. I thought maybe my injectors where getting dirty from not being run much.

Well since this morning i have cleaned battery terminals, which were not bad, charged batteries and then started with the charger on boost, still the same. added a second dose of standyne (always add one with fill up) right now at just below a half tank. the possibility of not so good fuel could be it as i have not fueld in the last 6 weeks and the problem was first noticed about 1 month ago. i ran the truck a few miles and returned to the garage and let it run for 15-20 minutes and then i shut down. i will try to start after the superbowl game before going to bed and see what happens.

i know we have talked about this before, but do you still have any ties to the area? Were you ever involved with the fire dept there?

Well the morning temp was 43, plugged in, 2 light cycles of the glow plugs and it is better but nowhere near as good as it was 6 weeks ago. i am going with the low quality fuel direction as everything else checks good.

thanks for the help and i will give an update after i fuel and run it.
