How did the authorities find out about this threat? By monitoring phone calls, e-mails. etc. Hopefully (but probably not) this will be a wakeup call for those in the US who are against government "eavesdropping". From what I've heard, this was discovered in the final stages of planning - it would have been carried out within the next few days, and the results would have been as bad as, if not worse than 9/11/01.

I hate to think of this scenario if Gore or Kerry had made it to office. Thank God Blair has a pair on him. You can bet none of Bush's detractors will EVER acknowledge his policies had one wit to do with the successful interception of this plan.
