Hello all,
This problem has led me to your forum so this is not so bad!
I installed a triple guage cluster today on my a pillar. works fine. But while the key is on and truck is running my lock actuators are surging from lock to unlock over and over again nonstop. The door chime is also going off. Had to pull the lock actuator fuse under the dash for now. I'm at a loss. Sure could use some advise. Thanks in advance. P.S. I did pop the dash guage 10 amp fuse during the install. I'm a bodyman, not an electrician, nuff said.

Well you have some crossed wire or something along those lines somewhere.

What gauges did you install, and where did you wire them to?

What year of truck are we dealing with?

when you get a chance fill out your profile so we know what year/model
your talkin' about.

sounds like you pinched or picked up the wrong wire.

Check where you tapped your ground and power source to you gauges. Sounds like you are giving your power to the locks through way of your gauges.

ok just for giggles...go back and disconnect everything....
see if youve still got the LOCK issue.

if you do then its not the gauges.

if the problem doesnt exist then slowly connect one
wire at a time until you get the "lock issue" again...

changed my 12 V. source from brake booster connection to 12V. source of cigarette lighter. All is good, locks work correctly now. Talked to a mechanic friend, he said never use a 12 volt source for accessories that will run thru the computer. thanks for the advice.

No, sorry, it wasn't that funny! Kinda wierd though. Truck started up good, then after about 10 seconds the locks on all 4 doors just started thumping between lock and unlock. It never affected the brakes or the lights. Must of just backfed somehow thru the computer.

Your situation is very common on many GM products  and they are stock with no mods.
