To get an accurate reading, you need to fill the tank up all the way, to the point that you can see the fuel, mine will take anotyer 3-4 gallons after the pump first kicks off.

By filling it this full you can duplicate it, and get an accurate mileage reading. No 2 pumps are the same, and will NOT shut off at the same fuel level, this is the ONLY way to get an accurate MPG measurement, without some serioulsy expensive equipment like fuel flow meters, etc....

ditto....that is how i do it....
