photos LED Back-Up Lights Installed

I'm not uptight bush, sorry if I gave that impression.

I have them wired for manual only, so I have to flip the switch to cut them on, which is nice in case I am sitting still and need to see behind for one reason or another.

When I cut the hole, I had to make sure they were in the right location or you run into the bumper brace.

There is probably about a 1/4 between the brace and the back of the light.

The lights are not a shallow fixture, I bought them at our local FleetPride Truck Parts Store over a year ago. The cost about 60.00 bucks, so when I took them out of the toolbox I knew they would go back somewhere on the truck.

I think the brand is Grote, but not sure. They have 27 LED's each.

As far as a template, I went out to one of our car haulers that uses the same size light for a turn signal and just traced the hole on a piece of paper.

If anyone needs a template for future use, I can scan one and post it up.

I will try and post a night time pic tomorrow night.

Night pics

Here are some pics of the LED's at night. Keep in mind, my camera is not the best for taking pics of lights at night. The lights are much brighter than the pics show.

Yep, they are a Slimline LED.

I also bought them from FleetPride Truck Parts.

the reverse LED's look nice and bright...maybe its just the photos...but
it looks like the light is concentrated LOW and a bit NARROW behind
the truck...it doesnt look like any light is making it past the sides of the
truck enough to use these for backing up (lord knows you can see over
the tail gate @ night)

The set up would work well for trailer connecting/disconnecting and some
"working behind the truck" at night but I think the curve of the bumper
is such that its angling the lights down low...rather that getting the light
far enough behind the truck or wide enough to see.

I find that when backing up you need the light to be WIDE so you can
see out the side mirrors.

I agree bush. With this type of install, that was only place I could mount the lights and not get into the braces.

I have thought about adding some similar to yours in the future so to be able to see around the curve of the rear bumper.

I think they would work better on a Bright Red Truck!
