Leaking fuel pump

Howdy,
Just put a fuel pump on last Wednesday and had no problems until yesterday when I noticed a puddle of fuel under my truck, passenger side by the fire wall.
Tightened all the hose clamps back up, but I believe the banjo (?) bolt on the back of the pump is leaking. I tightened it as well and I was surprised that it was a loose as it was. Anyways, it is still leaking (the rear) bolt and I was wondering if those metal gaskets go bad and need to be replaced. The leak is minor compared to what it was. I am just hesitant to tighten it any harder.

I'm not familiar with OBS or the banjo bolt you're talking about so work with me. Are the metal washers your talking about, steel, or copper or what? If they are a soft metal like copper there is way to soften them back up I beleive. Its been a while but I think you heat them with a torch then quickly drop them into a bucket of water. I'll do some investigating right quick while I wait for your response.

yep if they are copper, you may need to aneal them or just get new ones. You could even aneal the new ones to make them seal better. Super heat them them drop them in a bucket of cold water. Bryan

I believe that they are not copper, I base this on the fact that they were painted black and are pretty stiff. When it was all a part I cleaned everything up real good so it is not black from grease or dirt. I believe if I tightened it up just a bit it would stop, but don't want to breakor strip something.

Not sure what they are made of but it's black and springy on mine. I know others have had to replace them after awhile tho I re-used mine. I tightened mine pretty good with a big box wrench then whacked it tighter with a mallet. Not sure exactly what torque "whacked" translates to but it didn't break.

Will do that in the a.m. Mallet and whack usually = problem solved in the past!

while you're down there double check the weep holes as that's where mine was leaking from which unfortunatley translates to a new pump.

I believe they are fibrous material rather than copper or at least the repalcements I got from the international dealer were not copper. The banjo bolt tends to work it's way loose over time to create the leak so just retightening them usually solves the problem. I was rather surprised that mine wasn't leaking there as loose as my bajno bolt was... but that's another story.

I cant remember that chit when I did mine...seems like it was two very stiff very thin washers on the banjo bolt...I just tightened it down
and like mentioned before,,a tap or two with a hammer to seat it...
no leaks yet

but it could be your problem.... I think this is the part number
